In a hands-on environment, students explore hardware and software aspects of the computer. In addition students gain knowledge in the state-of-the-art technology in the area of wired and wireless network communication, engineering design, advanced PC operating systems, internet technologies, and computer programming. This program is designed to prepare students to take the industry-based certification exams and to adapt the rapidly changing high-tech industry.
Accreditation:This state-of-the-art program will be applied for accreditation to the Technology Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology - TAC of ABET, www.abet.org. As a federation of professional technical societies, ABET is recognized by US Department of Higher Education and internationally accepted by colleges, universities, and industry. ABET accreditation is required by most employers, and certifies the quality of engineering and engineering technology programs. Career Outcomes:Since computers and networks have been two of the leading technologies driving engineering job markets, graduates with competencies in software development and a sound knowledge of hardware and engineering processes will continue to be highly sought. Graduates of the program have a good balance in the design and development of hardware and software, computer troubleshooting/repair skills, and network installation/management skills. They are well suited for positions that are highly paid and in high demand, such as system administrators, network administrators, system designers, quality control engineers, and software developers.
