Program Description:

Civil Engineering Technologists plan, design, inspect and direct the construction of buildings, roads, dams, bridges, airports and wastewater treatment facilities, etc.. Students in the Civil Engineering Technology program receive an education that stresses the practical application of engineering principles. Students take courses in mathematics, physics, chemistry, engineering mechanics, surveying, CAD, structural design, materials, soils, hydrology and construction. Many of these courses include laboratory activities that demonstrate the application of classroom concepts.

As a federation of professional technical societies, ABET is recognized by US Department of Higher Education and internationally accepted by colleges, universities, and industry. ABET accreditation is required by most employers, and certifies the quality of engineering and engineering technology programs.

Based on the rigor of their academic preparation and consequent ability to apply engineering solutions to real-world problems, the graduates of this program are highly sought by industry recruiters. Senior Civil Engineering Technology students are eligible to take the Fundamentals of Engineering (F.E.) Exam which, when combined with the requisite amount of engineering experience, qualifies them to apply for the Professional Engineer (P.E.) Exam.
