Program Description:
Flexibility is the key to employment today and this specialization has been developed to be flexible. The roles of employees are becoming more cross-functional in nature, requiring a diverse set of technical and management skills. To meet this demand in the global market, we have developed a dynamic program, which fills these needs. Each student is required to complete the Technical Management core of the Industrial Technology degree program. But rather than prescribe the courses that they take for their technical specialization, the students develop a custom plan of study utilizing various existing technical and management courses and independent study. This plan of study is generated through a personalized consultation between the adviser and the student. For example if a student wanted to become the CAD/CAM systems manager, his or her plan of study would include various CAD and CAM courses along with the Networking Technology courses. Students transferring credits in from other institutions of higher education can also use those credits in this program. In some cases an entire technical specialization may be transferred to CCSU and then capped with the Technology core courses. Career Outcomes:Employment opportunities for students in this program are wide, varied and unlimited because of the flexibility built into the program. Graduates will fill the need for technologists in a broad range of fields and, given their technology and management skills, move into leadership positions in their respective field of study. Graduates can look forward to numerous career opportunities in a diverse array of settings. Some examples of potential careers fields include Internet Technologies (Web Master), Mechatronics Technology, Public Safety, Fire Prevention, Biotechnology, Telecommunications, CAD/CAM Systems Management and any other combination of courses that we offer.
